A carefully chosen verse, poem or reading can say so much about how we are feeling following the death of a family member or friend. They can bring comfort and solace, either just to read in a reflective quiet moment or as a personal tribute to be used during a ceremony or included as part of a service sheet.

Making it personal

If a family member would like to read but is worried they may not manage on the day, it is worth naming a second person to step in. Nobody will think less of anyone for handing over, and having a plan takes the pressure off.
